MRD Employee Spotlight: Aaron Leavitt

Today, our spotlight is on Aaron Leavitt, Resident Manager of Ross Estates Apartments in Lawton, Oklahoma.

We have the best team in the business! Each month you can meet one of our AWESOME employees who make our success possible! Get to know us by getting to know WHO we ARE! We are MRD!

The Getting to Know you questions

  • 1. First, tell us how long you’ve been at MRD?

  • June 15th, I will be here a year.

  • 2. What do you like most about MRD?

  • That’s hard because I like a lot of things about MRD! I like that no matter where you’re at there is always somebody that has your back! If they don’t know the answer, for example my Regional Manager, they have somebody they can go to. It is a big support system.

  • 3. What is your proudest moment at MRD?

  • Getting the promotion to the Property Manager position at Ross Estates. I started as a Leasing Agent at Geary Estates (Kansas), then to Leasing Manager and now I am the Property Manager at Ross Estates (Oklahoma).

  • 4. What motivates you to work hard?

  • I like to do a good job. I like to be very thorough. I am pretty hard on myself so I have really high expectations for myself. So if I exceed my own expectations then I know I have exceeded everyone else’s expectations.

  • 5. Who is your hero?

  • My dad. Definitely my dad. He is Active Duty Army with about 2 yeas left before he retires. For a long time he was a rancher, so he knows hard work and he taught me and my brothers to work hard to earn respect and get the things you want in life. He has had a lot of struggles over the years from his background. He is amazing because he overcomes every obstacle that comes his way.

  • 6. Best advice you have been given?

  • Slow down and enjoy the moment! A lot of people have given me that advice but most recently, Jon Stoddard (General Manager of Geary Estates). He reminded me that I need to do that more.

  • 7. If you could choose to do any job for a day, what would it be?

  • To be a Lawyer. For the longest time I wanted to be a Child Advocacy Lawyer. I tried College and figured out it was so not for me. I like being the voice for somebody who needs it. It would be like in Child Custody cases and being the voice for the child to make sure they are in a good situation and are being taken care of.

  • 8. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

  • Being an Army Brat I have kind of lived a lot of places. Honestly anywhere where there is FAMIILY close by. I am pretty easy going as far as I have been in the mountains, I have been in the desert, I have been in the middle but as long as I have family near me then I am happy where I am at.

  • 9. What was your childhood nickname?

  • Everybody currently calls me A-ARON from the Substitute Teacher skit. (Comedy Central Skit...warning it does contain vulgar language). But growing up my nickname was Blondie!

  • 10. What's 3 things left on your bucket list?

  • Going to Disneyland is one. I want to go to Ireland and probably just traveling more.

  • 11. Favorite things to do on your days off?

  • Spending time with my girls. Going up to the Wildlife Refuge here and hiking. Taking them to the park and enjoying time with my kids.
